Something a few of us in the office are really digging at the moment is HDRI photography.
HDRI, or High Dynamic Range Imaging, is a process of photographing a scene in multiple exposures and then using software editing packages (Photoshop e.t.c.) to merge the exposures with the aim of keeping all of the dynamic range from each exposure. This creates an image that doesn’t drop off the tonal histogram even in the shadows and highlights.
Lost? Well, as always, the Wikipedia page on HDRI probably explains it best.
The photos here are from a particularly nice set found on Flickr by Altus.

Ueba.net have just published their list of top 12 weird Japanese inventions.
My favourite has to be the ‘Better teeth for better biting’. I was falsely under the impression that nature was a pretty tough act to beat in the invention stakes, but it just goes to show that if there’s a will, there’s a way-weird thought process behind it.
