Photographer Thomas Allen has caught my eye.
According to his press release …
“Allen’s photographs are inspired by his childhood experiences with pop-up books and View-Masters. He begins his process by cutting figures and images out of illustrated pages of old books and vintage fiction novels. Allen then cleverly rearranges and juxtaposes the forms to create three-dimensional scenes. Next, he carefully lights his subjects and photographs the scenes.
The work combines the humor of children’s pop-up books, the nostalgia of dime novels, and the drama of the stage. Allen’s inventive and evocative photographs capture characters and events in mid-action. And the viewer is left to wonder what will happen next.”

This is a nice bit of work - you get to play doctors and nurses with a poorly bunny by the name of Fred. (I wonder if it’s viral??)
First, you have to juice him to get his little ticker started again. “Clear!” The patient has swallowed something nasty and you’ve got to operate before he flatlines again. Where’s Goose from Top Gun when you need him?
This is the website of Dutch interactive agency 10mg (www.10mg.nl), who clearly believe their work speaks for itself. And it does. Click the bunny to play.

Well, Ollie’s done it again and found a really interesting photoset on Flickr, where people are using the wallpapers on their computers in an original way.
The way I did it (above) was to take a photo of the area behind the computer without the monitor/computer in place. Then take the same photo of the monitor in position (it helps if you have the camera on a tripod). Then in Photoshop place the two images in layers with the one of the monitor ‘in-situ’ on top. Then simply crop the image to the inside boundaries of the monitor.
Once you have this image, simply make it your desktop background and Robert is your father’s brother!
These are the kind of small things that keep us, in the office, happy and smiling.

Adam, our new and very talented Visualiser/Illustrator, draws comics in his spare time and has launched a webcomic called The Everyday.
For the next four weeks he’ll be posting a new autobiographical comic strip every single week day.
Good stuff.
